Buyer Evaluations

I just bought the KX-TG7624. The manual that comes with it covers both the KX-TG762x and KX-TG764x series. Seeing the differences detailed in the manual, I've decided to return this one and purchase the Panasonic KX-TG7645M DECT 6. Link-to-Cell via Bluetooth Cordless Phone with Anwering System, Metallic Gray, 5 Handsets. I'm giving it 5 stars simply because I think it is a decent product, but it does not fit my wants as well as the upgraded model.
In my mind, the dream function of these Link-to-Cell phones is getting able to answer your cell telephone from any telephone in the residence. That is splendid. Our property has spotty cell reception in some areas, so becoming in a position to position the base in a very good reception area and answer the telephone in the garage or basement is pretty great.
I looked at the Panasonic webpage and even attempted the "compare" function there ahead of I bought. The phones have so numerous comparable attributes that I overlooked some of the important differences in between the KX-TG762x and the KX-TG764x models. That last digit just tells you the number of handsets, so the KX-TG7622 has two handsets and the KX-TG7624 is the identical telephone with 4 handsets. The next to last digit is very important because it tells you whether or not some important attributes are included.
The KX-TG764x is a bit additional pricey than the KX-TG762x and has at least six upgraded capabilities as follows:
(1) The 764x permits the handset to power the base unit during a power failure. The 762x does not support this so a power outage renders the set useless. [As of this writing, this distinction is not mentioned on the Panasonic comparison tool on the Panasonic web page.]
(two) The 764x base unit is a phone also, so you can make or answer a call making use of just the base unit. The 762x base unit is not a phone on its own.
(3) The 764x base unit has a better display that shows date, time, phonebook entries, caller info, and messages recorded on the answering technique. The 762x doesn't have this display.
(4) The 764x allows you to make intercom calls from the base unit to/from the handsets. The 762x supports intercom function in between the handsets but you cannot use the base station as an intercom.
(five) The 764x has a headset jack on every handset.
(6) The 764x has belt clips included with every handset.
Of these differences, there are just two that stick out to me as critical.
The power outage operation is a pretty massive difference to me. My region experiences somewhat frequent power outages, although in most cases short duration. I'd really like to be in a position to obtain phone calls or at least not be promptly knocked off the phone. I'm not confident yet how nicely that would work due to the fact the power outage mode apparently has a considerably lowered range. The cell phones would still perform in an outage, so there is a backup but I may possibly not have the cell promptly at hand.
The headset jack on the handsets is a good function. I plan to use the phones as component of my dwelling office setup. I have conference calls that can last a couple of hours at a time. When Bluetooth headsets are an alternative, the simplicity of a wired headset can be a nice, reliable alternative.
All in all, I consider this unit delivers a excellent package for fundamental usage. We have been applying Panasonic cordless phones for about 15 years. If this phone lasts like our prior Panasonic phones, I unquestionably expect a very good five+ years out of it. I'd rather go ahead and get the larger featured 1 now.
Dec. 2011 update:
I've been utilizing the Panasonic KX-TG7645M phone set for about five months and thought I'd add some comments.
The phones themselves operate superb with our house phone line. No sound good quality troubles. The base is situated in the kitchen on our most important level. I added the Panasonic KX-TGA405B Range Extender for Cordless Phone Systems in my household workplace on the second floor. I extremely suggest the range extender if you have any range issues at all. For the price, it truly boosts the signal so that we can speak anyplace in our residence, including the basement/garage. Well worth the income spent on that.
The Link-to-Cell feature is not pretty as seamless and constant as I'd envisioned. The automatic pairing with the cell phone doesn't appear to work all the time with our Samsung Fascinate telephone, but it seems quite consistent with a BlackBerry. I suspect that this could possibly have a lot to do with the distinct telephone you are working with, so I'm afraid that will be a "your mileage may well vary" sort of factor.
I use the headset jack a lot for conference calls. I knew it was an necessary function to have and expertise has proven that to be correct.
We have begun to use the intercom feature a bit a great deal more. I truly labeled the telephone that is in my office so that I can return it there when it wanders. Keeping the phones in the very same location is crucial to making use of the intercom. Otherwise you by no means know where in the house you are calling!

I use this method only for linking to a cell phone (no land line) by way of blue tooth. It operates perfectly and was quick to set-up (connects to an iPhone). It was specifically what I had been looking for....a why to have numerous wireless handsets in the residence that use the cell phone instead of a land line. I was pleased that it even recognizes the get in touch with directory that is on the iPhone.
